The lance insertion position is determined by the tuyere, the structure of the straight blowing pipe, the structure of the lance itself, and the furnace conditions. If the lance is inserted too deep, it is prone to causing "flowering" (burning damage) at the lance head; if inserted too shallow, it will lead to scouring and burning of the small tuyere sleeve. Therefore, a reasonable lance insertion position must be selected. At the same time, the selection of materials for the lance barrel, especially the lance head, is also very critical. The higher the high-temperature oxidation resistance, the longer the service life of the lance. The occurrence of the above problems will affect the service life and performance of the lance. Therefore, when using the lance, attention should be paid to the prevention and solution of the above problems. The better the wear resistance of the material, under the same operating conditions, the generation of defects will be relatively delayed, and may not even appear within one cycle. This phenomenon is called fatigue damage.
When we encounter a damaged lance, our first reaction may be to suspect a quality problem with the lance. However, if we carefully analyze and inspect the damage condition of the lance, it may be of great help to identify the cause and solve the problem. The lance starts working when inserted into the straight blowing pipe. If it is suddenly and abnormally damaged in a short time, it mainly has the following manifestations: 1. Burning and melting: This kind of damage mainly occurs within 500 mm from the front end of the lance in the straight blowing pipe. It is manifested as local melting, pits and molten holes of different sizes on the surface. The defective part is obviously formed from the outside to the inside.
Most of this kind of damage occurs when the lance has not been working for a long time after the blast furnace is shut down and restarted. The main causes of this damage are system failures and improper operations. For example, factors such as poor furnace conditions, tuyere coking, system blockage or intermittent injection, hot air backflow, tuyere slag filling, and air leakage at the contact between the lance and the tuyere may lead to this damage. Improper operation is also one of the causes of this damage, such as failing to supplement air and withdraw the lance in time when stopping injection, or excessive back pressure when shutting down the blast furnace and stopping the blast. 2. Perforation and scouring leakage: This kind of damage can occur at any part of the coal injection lance. The longer the service life of the lance.
